By breaking the barrier of the sub four-minute mile, Roger Bannister proved doctors wrong and accomplished the impossible. From 1945 to 1954 it was believed that running a mile in under four minutes was unachievable, however, on May 6th, 1954, Roger Bannister ran the first sub-four-minute mile. By using rigorous training methods Bannister accomplished the “Everest” of track, the sub- four-minute mile and made advancements in track.
